(SPOILERS) Started so good, now it's all bad RP dialogues

Post by MalaksBane »

This game started out so good, but now, in short succession, there are two dialgues that do not give any In Character dialogue options/paths.

The first was when speaking with LaCroix after the Grout mission. There was no option to keep Nines out, and (worse) the only ones available were rather stupidly pointing at Nines as the killer. Just doesn't make sense.
I suppose they needed the info on Nines with the Cammies for plot reasons, but at least they could have changed the wording and implications.

The second is worse. No matter what I try in the conversation with Beckett, it always seems to end with only one option, saying as much as 'I don't care about any of this, I just want the sarcophagus'. Not very IC at all.

So, what's the proper path that leads to a more civilized conclusion, if there is any.

Edit: Btw, not looking for stat increase. Searches revealed it would be possible to increase Scholarship to 3, but it's already on 4.

I guess this is your first run through the game, so I'll try not to spoil to much of the plot.

The conversation with LaCroix will make complete sense by the time you finish the game, and as to why you have only those three options it's very simple: LaCroix use Dominate on you (he's a Ventrue and that is one of their in-clan disciplines). Just as a sidenote if you refuse some mission from him (going to Elisabeth Dane, Grout etc.) he does the same thing and then you get three options saying something like "I'll go to Elisabeth Dane."

I don't remember your conversation with Beckett so I can't say anything about it.

Yep, first time.

Domination? Oh well, I suppose that could make some sense, better then the Plot Discipline....

Beckett, first 'Beckett? What are you doing here?' or something. He explains and the thing is obviously stolen, so I don't delve into that part. On to 'Did you get a look', he says some things about Antediluvians and Cain[1], I think. Ask about them both (whatever the first, there's a followup with 'And ...?' Then you can have him talk about Caine, Thin Bloods ('What about' and ' Tell me more'), Gehenna[1] and why he doesn't buy that doomsday stuff. I try to get every bit of info from him, but eventually am left with the bad sounding 'This stuff doesn't interest me, I want the coffin' thing.

Oh, btw, most of the info he gives was already covered in a conversation with him after blowing up the Sabbat warehouse, I think. Icluding him talking about himself. Saw that too in the museum convo, but can't get it again.

[1] And it feels so silly to go like 'Cain?' or 'Gehenna?' every other conversation.

Well why dont you just ask him about the stuff? Trust me its intresting stuff :D

And the prince is a Ventrue which allows him to use dominate, if you havent played a Ventrue yet i suggest you do, it will explain alot of this stuff to you ;)

I did ask him about the stuff - I usually drain npc's for every bit of info they can give - but probably not in the right order, or something. That is why I asked, there appears to be some path that I missed. Might be intuitive to some, or perhaps you just have to reload a hundred times to get it?

Then there is this food critic with an ego that spans LA, the dialogue has a seductive line, but it leads nowhere. Even tried it with 9 in seduction, I think, but no change, seems a bit unfinished.

Doesn't really matter, but I feel seduction should be able to get similar results as persuade more often (not always). So far it mostly adds to the fun, good enough perhaps, but, well.

On a side note, what is the max seduction required to get the most out of it, iow, to pass the highest seduction challenge (DC). My Toreador is at 7 currenltly, which seems to be required for a free sip on the streetprostitutes.

Spoiler re the food critic:

The seduction line with the food critic only works if your character is male. He comments that it is good to meet someone with similar tastes or something similar.

Yeah, the first time I played I thought the dialogues with LaCroix a bit strange... I said "**** you, LaCroix! I'm not doing any of this!" and, soon after, I was forced to say "Ok, I'll do it.". But, as they say, the "Dominate" explains everything.

Seducing the prostitutes seems to have the highest difficulty check. If there is a seduction line in the game that requires a seduction feat of 8 or higher,I don't know it.

There are some, as far as I have seen. There is a girl in the Red Dragon which requires 8 (she has an interesting convo, and you can feed on her), and a guy somewhere, I am not certain but it might have been the Giovanny guard outside the house.

Not sure if the fellow below the stairs in the Glaze requires 8, but he also has a seduction line that appears to lead no where. Chris (Giovanni) has a seduction line, but again, no followup (for females).

But 7 in seduction seems the most usefull for (female) PC's, as it opens an abundant source of free blood as well as most of the available seduction lines.
