Forgive me if this question seems juvenile or "so simple", but I would like a clarification on something regarding the "unofficial patches."
I have only recently began playing the game and I am now on my third character. I have installed the official v1.2 patch and was going to begin installing the unofficial patches, but my question is this: if I get the most recent patch, say v1.7 (or v1.8 as it was just released), do I need to get all the subsequent unofficial patches, or does the newest one include previous ones?
Thanks

Okay, well I think I have answered my own question by trial and error: After installing the v1.8 patch and playing through several hours, and then comparing the release notes from the previous patches, I am seeing a correlation. So that must mean that the most current patch does include all the items from the previous.
If I am wrong, and still missing something, someone please set me straight.

I think it goes like this ( correct me if I am wrong, has been a while since I installed the game ):
Install Game, patch to the last official patch 1.2, then patch the latest unoffical one ( 1.7 or 1.8 now ).
Install Game, patch to the last official patch 1.2, then patch the latest unoffical one ( 1.7 or 1.8 now ).
Lucita y Aragon, Childe of Ambrosio Luis Moncada, Childe of Silvester de Ruiz, Childe of Boukephos, Childe of Lasombra
When I installed the v1.8 patch, I was in the middle of a game. I was about to enter the Society of Leopold quest, and noticed some changes already made. As I continued on, some of the further changes were more subtle.
I have subsequently started another new game and the changes are quite apparent. Conclusion: the changes take effect immediately, but seem to be more seamless when starting fresh.

I feel I should point out that if you find yourself dissatisfied with the unoffical patch and decide to restore your game back to the official version, you may run into some difficulty.
I tried to "downgrade" from 1.7 back to 1.2 by restoring the backup of the game directories I made, which, according to the 1.7 patch notes, should have worked. The result was a lot of very strange bugs. For the sake of brevity I'll spare the details, but the game was not playable.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and found the same bugs still there. I ended up having to uninstall, completely erase the entire Vampire directory, and then reinstall.
