Starting a new ToB and I want items and xp appropriate for having completed SoA....
I tried shadowkeeper but my game had problems loading in Saradush. Is this a coincidence do you think? I took at least an hour selecting items for each party member.
Why would the party members have crappy armor and only a vanilla +3 weapon when they have campaigned with you through the underdark?
I think it would actually a greater challenge to beat the game without uncovering decent gear (would take more brain power and skill) than to beat the game solo or with improved tactics mods. The game is loaded with power items so WHY is it so slanted towards playing the same party continuing in SoA by denying power items?

New Single Player Game to Start ToB?

Usually, simply giving items to your characters with Shadowkeeper will not make the game crash. On the other hand, there are specific circumstances that will make the game crash. For example, if you give a character an invalid item, the game might stall when it tries to load. This can happen because there are items with the same name and you might choose the wrong ones. The game will also stall if you stack items incorrectly (I've seen it happen with arrows).
If your game loads successfully and then crashes when you enter a new area, then your CD might be scratched or dirty. I think that is the most likely explanation for your problem.

If Bioware had given TOB players every item from SOA, then players would spend hours equipping their parties before they ever started playing the game. There's something wrong with that scenario.
Personally, I hate inventory management. I'd rather just play the game instead of worrying about whether I had chosen the best possible weapons. Some people seem to think they have "lost" the game if they haven't acquired the best goodies available. You can play that way if you want, but to me it misses the whole point of the game. You don't need to have the best equipment to win the game. Your characters are so powerful, +3 weapons are sufficient 99% of the time. If I start a new game of TOB and I'm missing an item, I'd rather start playing without it than lose sleep over it.
Besides, as you play TOB, you will acquire a lot of great equipment. Maybe Bioware thought that was enough.

Check your bag of holding in your pc's inventory, it has many decent (good) items in it of all kinds. Even has flail of ages and shield of harmony.

There are about nineteen different Bags of Holding, and their contents vary. I don't know how the game picks which one to give you at the beginning of TOB.
But none of them has the really great items from SOA, such as Crom Faeyr, Bladesinger Chainmail, Blackrazor, etc. If you want those items, you have to create them yourself. Rather than searching through a bag to find an item I'm looking for, I think it would be easier to create the item with a cheat code or Shadowkeeper. In any case, I'd just pick a few good ones and start playing instead of trying to re-create them all. I always end up with a bunch of items I never use, anyway.

Funny, all the bags I got were the same contents. The different ones to choose from in sk are empty ones, full ones, and Im not sure what else...

Thats a good point on the items... you really don't need them all. I think its my instinct as a collector (and I feel bad as if i had lost something if my items in ToB are all vanilla).
And good suggestion on the causes of crash. I found that an item (ring of free action) had 7 possible copies in the shadowkeeper and only one was the correct one.
ToB is pretty fun though... Its got enough new abilities and monsters that my level of tactical ability in SoA (hey I did get through the maze without sleeping
) needs to be improved.
And thanks for the help! I was at my ropes end (spent 2 days of my allotted gaming time hitting dead ends trying to build a game).
