I must report very unpleasant discovery. I played with character that had nothing invested in repair skill and when using the workbench to breakdown items number of components produced are extremely low. Allmost all items are 1 component and the ones that where in above 100 range are now 10 or 15.
At the same time when using character like Bao Dur in creating items his repair skill is shown. But when he tries to breakdown item the repair skill of the main character is counted in.
Obviously this most be some sort of bug. Is there any way/patch to correct this?
This is very serious problem because it makes creation of advanced items quite impossible.

The original game (KotOR 1) allowed you to ignore the skill system. Who needs security when you can bash containers and doors? Who needs computer skills when you can sumon T3-M4? The workbench scheme was introduced to give a real purpose to skills.

Invest in the cross-class repair feat then put some skill points into repair. Make it part of Kreias' "skill lesson" if it makes you feel better. But it does mean that you can't create advanced items straight away, which is a good thing (TM).
But impossible? Nope, I do it every game. Expert fencing emitters, pontite lens and ultimate diatium energy cells all round, by the fourth planet...
