Iron Golem Help Needed in temple
Cant seem to get a handle on killing the 4 iron golems in the monestary. They give off some poison aoe attack and hit very hard. I have a level 13 party with a cleric, fighter, wizard, barb, druid, and rogue/bard.
Hi,
You can avoid this battle by simply not looting that sarco***us or whatever that is.
Not worth the while for the danger that lurks afterwards.
Maybe next time through the game you can beat the heck out of them. I would not engage
them on the first game run.
Good luck on whatever you should decide.
Cheers m8...
Cool, thanks. Ill try that... was hoping there was buff to counter act their aoe...and are spears the only thing that can hit them?
Anything you own that is +3 should injure them.
If the only +3 items you own are spears then you will be limited to those, or any other means that creates a weapon of that power (is Phantom Blade +3?).

Iron Golem Help
Sorry but Iron Golems have 100% magic resistence so spells will not work. If you have a mage with a lower resistence spell (I may be thinking BG or IWD 1) they should cast 2 or 3 of them on the a single golem and then use spells on it. You should be able now to hit them with magic missle spells and most, maybe all will get through. Even a couple of MM spells with a few good hits will take one out. The iron golems don't have "huge" hit point totals but their resistence and the requirement to have +3 or better weapons makes them tough especially that 4 pack.
There are several bullets, bolts, and arrows that will work on them. ANY "sure strike" ammunition will damage them. It does NOT have to be melee damage. By this point in the game I had acquired literally bunches of "sure strike" ammo of all three types as well as a few +3. There is a +1 "sure strike" short sword you can buy from the "merchant" who sells out of his ruined home after you rescue the people from the orcs fairly early on. In its description it says that its enchantment counts as +5 for what it can hit so it will work on the iron golems. I think I had acquired about 4 or 5 various +3 or sure strike weapons (other than ammo) and split them up among the characters. Ravager had a good suggestion there. You can also buy some from the merchants in the cavern in the underdark area (but they are EXpensive).
Here the tactic I used. Should work for you since you have moved up to the path to the next section and know where it is. Find a real narrow spot (roll the cursor back and forth across the path to see when it changes from a cross or plus sign to a single bar) where only about one golem can approach at a time. Block it with 2 strong fighters with good melee weapons. Have any missle weapon users stand back with "sure strike" ammo. Try approach the golems so that you only see 1 at a time (thief in shadows or invisible) and shoot at it. That one will lead the charge. Even if the others charge they will be backed up and unable to attack and their clouds won't reach far enough to hurt you. You can therefore face them 1 at a time & take down each one in turn. I was doing well enough with my meleers (little damage due to buffs and fairly good AC) that my other 4 shooters took out the back 2 with missle weapons alone.
