The README explains the installation process in loving detail.
"t's a testament to the determined RPG fraternity that a number of Baldur's Gate II mods have been successfully produced. The best can be found at pocketplane.net." - PC Gamer UK
When you install it, keep in mind that Ascension and Tactics are REALLY mean mods, made for you to keep busy and really planning what will you do. Despite the new weapons and habilities you may receive, you'll always - and they mean always - be tactically challenged.
A good thing would be to install a few of the mods, run the game with those, and then install the rest. So that you have some time to see what they say when they talk about challenging enemies.

Does anyone know the details of the Improved Bhaalspawn abilities, which the mod description only says are obscure. Helpful
Ah it's been a while since I've played without Acension installed (Or at all) but I can remember a few of the abilities [spoilers] You pick them up while fighting Amellyssan (sp?) and they include the ability, once activated, to be immune to Time Stop, Immune to Level drain, Taking control of demons, and firing uber psyched up attacks (However I never used that one for some reason)
Hope I answered the right thing.
Your use of the term "them" makes me fear that you're considering downloading the old, obsolete version of Ascension, which you shouldn't do.
Err... I was talking about the two downloads on this page; David Gaider's Improved Bhaalspawn Powers and David Gaider's Ascension Mod v1.4
Should I get something else?
Yes. Gaider's originals are now long obsolete. As a general rule, there are 5 places you should check for mods (all will be up to date, and all feature different stuff):
I've just started a game with Ascension installed (v1.4.23) and I've a question.
Is it correct I'm supposed to get Bhaalspawn powers after the first test in Hell? I've tried facing the first test twice (as good), but I only got the pocket plane power after completion. Improved Illasera and Imoen Bhaalspawn powers did fire correctly.
EDIT: It may be worth mentioning some basics. Got my Ascension from weidu.org. I installed it (accepting all features) and ToB patches before even importing my character from BG1.
Sage plays a paladin, because other classes would be frowned upon for laying their hands on a wounded companion
I've completely uninstalled the game and removed the directory.
Did a full install of the DVD version. Applied both international bioware.com patches.
Did a full install of Ascension from Weidu.org.
Started a new game in ToB, Improved Illasera works, but once again no Bhaalspawn powers on completing the first challenge. Ascension readme still claims I should get them.
So my simple question, which anyone that played Ascension can answer. Did you get Bhaalspawn powers after completing the tests in hell?

Just a heads-up: the Improved Yaga-Shura battle caused my game to crash whenever the mage and/or thief lieutenant switched from a melee to a missile weapon. Seems strange, and apparently it doesn't happen to everyone. If it happens to you, just remove the lieutenants' ranged weapons with Shadowkeeper.
