I like the warrens (not getting down there, just being there itself) it has alot of interesting things there, i love the way it is designed, lots of little tidbits like the sin bin sign, the luckee star motel sign. did anybody notice one of the rooms had about a dozen boxes labeled "gimbles"?
conversation starters:
1-what EXACTLY is the red water?
2- if you play a malkavian are the voices really prominent in the warrens? "dry the coprse in the oven and sprinke it with pepper and fur" or something like that, thats what I heard.
3- whats up with the corpses at the dinner table?

1. For me it is water tainted with all kinds of corrosive chemicals (damage) plus a fair bit of hydrocarbons (colour) that seeped through.
2. I can't remember noticing a real difference in the voices between Malkavians and others.
3. As Gary says: it's a reunion of the people who worked on a movie, he probably went "upstairs" to get them out of their graves (since it's probably a movie he played in, the then cast would be dead by now and most probably buried in the hollywood cemetery.

I can buy the corrosive chemicals, but as for the red tint, the easiest way to get water tinted blood red would be to load it up with Ferric Oxide (rust). I know of no hydrocarbon that would produce blood red, but blood is red because of the iron in the hemoglobin. I once turned into a red-head from washing my hair in iron-rich water for a couple of years. Having said that, given the level of deterioration of the various iron-bearing things in the warrens, rust seems even more likely.

personally i quite like the whole sewer bit now after hating it the first run through. in the nosferatu warren bit i agree the water is probably a mixture of rust and chemical spillage. the dead people makes sense to me too as gary seems unable to let go of his former life, wanting the tape of tap hotel etc.
i've never noticed a difference in the voices if you are a malk or another clan. i think those voices are just the obfuscated nosferatu that mitnick tells you are everywhere so will be there whether youare insane or not.

I'm not buying the rust theory:
- Ferrous oxide, or rust, has a brownish red colour, while the colour of the water in the warrens is more of a deep wine red.
- Ferrous oxide is not very soluble, and would slowly sink to the bottom (if not already dissappearing through reaction with the corrosives).
Why I said hydrocarbons: the colour of the water reminded me of the colour of the kerosene some people sell by the roadside here, but that might be because colorants are added to differentiate the different types of fuels.
Whatever, it's foul stuff.

I found out about the water the hard way: don't fall in it, because you're toast.
I first thought it might be a last type of security measure, but I guess if you made it down that far, you deserve to see what is there. Mind you, a few months (maybe years, but I don't think so) prior to you exploring the Warrens, there were no Tzimisce nasties running around.
As for the voices; I think they are the same regardless of what character you play. And I must admit; I love the character of Gary, and the "dead man's party" is classic.
