After the woodcutters spiders are killed in Deklo grove, there is dialogue leading to his daughter dying and at Jaroos. Jaroo can't heal her he needs a rare plant from the swamp- but doesn't mark any swamp on the map- I immediately got a couple random encounters in swampy areas and searched them thouroughly, but found no plants, and now poor Amii is dead (well she's at least not at Jaroo's and my quest is Botched) Does anyone know how to win that one?--
Next problem - in clearing the Moathouse-I can't read the Diary- My rogue has it and when she goes to USE item, it suggests to check for traps, and she does and there is one, and there is dialog to disarm the trap and I choose that but at that point absolutely nothing happens- seems like a broken link. I have even tried dropping the book and trying to disarm it on the ground to no avail- If I can't read it, then I can't complete this quest. In the same vein, the blacksmith wants me to open a chest for him, and although my rogue has a 9 in the open locks skills, she can't get it, nor virtually any other lock in the game. How hard are these traps and locks, anyone know? Do we need a DC 28 or something to succeed?? Someone please help!
A Cure for Amii quest problems and a little more help please...

I don't play Liv's mod, but many have had this complaint/question come up. Apparently, it's just really hard to find. You need to make use of the tab key, and I think there may be some kind of timer if you don't find it quickly that foils the quest. Liv made our lives harder.
As for the locks, again, Liv made our lives harder. You take 20 on your roll when you lockpick, so whatever bonus you have plus 20 is what you're getting. If it's not high enough, you won't open it short of boosting your bonus. Bard songs, certain spells, masterwork thieve's tools, and feats can do this. A knock spell is another option (a wand of knock isn't too pricy). Many feel the lock DCs are way too hard. I'm one of them. A rogue should allow you do get past these things if he's really good. That's the point of having a rogue. Liv has made it more the case that having a rogue doesn't matter, which baffles me, really. This sort of thing is why I don't play Liv's mod, but that's just me. Anyway, there should also be the option of smashing the lock with an axe, but no such mechanic in ToEE exists. Frustrating.

(Use the lastest 1.3 build - it's still beta, but stable and far better than 1.2)

Thhanks again LP you seem to be my ToEE guru-- a timer huh? Well it makes it more "real" just wish I'd had a heads up about that and the TAB thingy- but I am checking things here and Co8 and sorcerers.net nowadays so I'm getting good info on this game
As for Liv's patch (which I am assuming is in Co8 4-since I didn't download it) I like harder things in general, more of a challenge, but yeah it should really be achievable- a DC 30 + lock (or a bunch of them) for 1-4th level rogues doesn't make a lot of sense.. hard, but not so hard as to make the class irrelevant, or to require "Superstat" characters. I am personally running a hybrid Ironman- only allowed myself 1-2 rolls per character, but playing in normal mode. Its fun. REAL fun. But I also didn't choose the Co8 custom shops (or the desperate housewives or nude characters) so I can't buy a knock wand that I know of yet. Guess I will just have to buff
or come back at a higher level
Buff it is - wish me luck.

Yeah, I was thinking that you might craft one. (If you haven't yet, read my item crafting sticky thread above, and you'll see how huge a deal crafting is in ToEE.) At level 5 a wizard gets a bonus feat, and I usually take craft wand with it (which requires caster level 5). As a sorc or something, you'd have to wait for your 6th level feat. Another reason wizards rock harder.
