You can rent a room in a inn in fargrove and Arindale but i have never tried to leave stuff in the room. It might disappear when you reload the room. The fire place works in Fargrove inn but not in Arindale inn.

Elvin Accomodations leave something to be desired.

You know, I love Dungeon Lords, I really do. ;)

Its analogous to the love I have for my wife: theres enough excitement and happiness to make it worth putting up with those moments when I think I'm being driven to madness. And so I stay with both of them.

But sometimes, when I'm feeling lonely on the streets of the game's largest
city, for example, I can't help but feel that for all its involved story, emersive
adventuring, challenging quests, and just plain fun slash-and-hack combat,
I'm looking at a game that was never quite finished. This is not a new problem of course. Many are the games that have reached the market and received good reviews, which could have been great had they not run out of time before the game was really completed. The rush to bring products to the stores can sometimes cheat both creators and fans of a fuller, richer experience. And it is indeed rare to see such a failing completely corrected in patches.

I can't quite accept, for example, that it was the programmer's & designer's intention that the Inn in Arindale, would be utterly devoid of furniture. Considering that Fargrove's inn has a large common room filled with tables and chairs for its non-existent patrons, doesn't it seem a little weird that Arindale has a huge...um...tea room (?) with not so much as a stool? Maybe Elves, being "closer to nature" prefer to sit directly on the floor? Don't get me wrong, this didn't interfere with my enjoyment of the game really, it just made me raise one eyebrow. But then, I paid for an over-priced room and got what? Not even a fire in the fireplace! For that matter, not a stick of furniture in the room if I wanted to be a naughty guest and use it for firewood.

So in other words, I paid for a room at the inn assuming (logically) that I would be able to safely rest there, and was not. In fact, there IS no place you can rest in Arindale. The closest is a campfire off in the wilds to the northeast. The elves have a city but they all sleep in the forests? I can only hope that the non-functioning hearth is a bug, and will be fixed. :(

And, as you mentioned, theres nothing in the rooms to store excess items in. (Though thats not really an issue since the game doesn't worry about encumbrance.) When I realized this fact about my room in the Fargrove inn, I was equally annoyed at having wasted funds. Why get my own private fireplace upstairs when I could just sleep on the floor in the tavern area. No joking - the hearth there allows you to regain hit points and spells, for free.

There are so many good things about this game: the way combat and magic
are handled, the very creative sysem for picking locks, the nice looking terrain
and architecture. I only wish some of its quirks (like the ones above) weren't
so glaring, because they have held me back from giving it a whole-hearted
endorsement with my friends. They are even less forgiving than I, and would
likely come to me with their dissatisfaction! For my part, I'll just keep trying
to figure out how to classify the Chunneler species (mobile plant?, insect breathing animal?) while I happily hunt them into extinction, all the while ignoring the fact that the great city of Fargrove has less than a dozen common citizens, and several speak with the voice of the opposite gender!

Good Journeys, Adventurers!
