New to Fable:

Post by Dreez »

After watching serveral reviews and friends playing it, i decided to buy this
cool game. And im happy i did. Compared to B&W it seems awesome in everyway
and the story & graphics leaves me lost for words.
Now , on to my real reason for this post. I just started this game and decided
that my first char would be a good fighter, putting alot in STR to make him hit
very hard, take a ton of beating and have good health. I´ve reached asfar as
the pirate camp where im about to slay the huge leader and meet my sister.

Now... before going to sleep i was playing with the idéa of turning him into a
paladin, putting points into some healing & defensive spells, since im making him
good. Seems like a fun thing to do, but is it doable ?

And on to my second question. Can i create a character based on magic that is
EVIL, and i meen evil, making every choise he can make, an evil choise.
What im picturing infront of me is a man dressed in black, wielding destructive
magic (like a warlock) towards anything comming in his path, or just for the
fun of it.

Thanks in advance and merry x-mas.

Short answer, yes. The extremes of evil and good are straightforward.
Magic spells, on reading the descriptions, will be evil and good.

It is possible to gain the titles of Paladin and Necromancer.
The waves came crashing in like blindness.
So I just stood and listened.

My "Paladin" currently has:
Health-6.
Physique-6.
Toughness-6.

And the spells im using are atm 2points in Spiritual Swords and 2 points in healing.
Im thinking about getting "Divine fury" since it sound like something a paladin
would have. The problem is that im farely experienced with RPGs and i know that
a character with points spread over too many areas becomes bad at everything
and good at nothing, and thats what bothering my mind.
Some areas that offers good enemies, like the hobbetcaves, i grind for a while
so i get some more points to spend.

But i guess i have to make misstakes to learn from them, like everyone else, so
here goes. Behold my Divine Fury are thy soul shall shatter in fear !!.

Question: Why are there no shields in Fable :( , "real" paladins use shields.

As for your second question, it's difficult to make an evil magic user just based on spells. There are only a couple of spells that are evil, though I went through playing as an evil will user. Your best bet is just to kill all innocents, and that makes you evil enough :D .
In memorian: Fiona; Ravager; Lestat; Phreddie; and all of those from the 1500 incident. Lest we forget.

My first character was an evil mage. The spells I specialized in from the start was force push and Infernal Wrath (is that the name? anyways it is the evil counterpart to Divine Fury). I would reccomend getting the evil mage hat, dark will user robes, frying pan with 4 mana augmentations, and a master longbow with 3 mana augmentations. If you wish to be evil (with horns, red eyes etc..) just kill villagers in assorted spots and choose evil decisions on quests.

The End:

Just finished Fable+TLC with my paladin and tbh i did expect more from this
game when it comes to difficulty. Through my entire journey in this game,
i did not encouter one fierce fight that got my blood pumping. It was like a
hot chainsaw through butter and that dissapointed me alot. I dont know...
maybe its just me, but i find most games today too easy. And if they´re not
too easy, they are very very very hard/impossible, there is nothing in the middle.
Anyhew.. my paladins build.
All Str was maxed.
Following spells were maxed:
Divine fury, Slowtime, Battlecharge, Heal, Spiritswords.

I used a full set of Light plate, and the nice helm from TLC, the holy warriorhelm.
For weapons i used Avos Tear and a master longbow.

I also took a quickride through the game as a really ebil mage using all of those
nice evil spells. But lost the will to play during the prisonbreak, it was way to
easy again. All i did was slowtime & toast with infernal wrath and nothing lived.
Way too easy. Think i got my exp-multiplyer up to 50+ at some times  .

So yesterday i uninstalled the game permanent and is now looking for another
RPG that can deliver me what i seek. Fable was a sweet short ride.
