Garrick and Silke bug in BGI
Hello all! Having some trouble with BGI. I visited Beregost before I went to the Friendly Arm Inn, and wasn't feeling ballsy enough to challenge Silke without some more firepower, so when Garrick talked to me I declined his initial offer. Now he's BLOCKING the entrance to the Burning Wizard, so I can't get the stupid boots back to Zhurlong, and I can't get Garrick to hire me out to Silke. Any ideas? How can I make him extend the offer again?
I had the same problem a long time ago. What are the dialog options you get when you talk to Garrick? I remember not being able to solve this and I ended up killing the poor guy. At least it won't affect your rep and hey, in Faerun, people will usually find ways to get resurrected. After all, Garrick shows up in BGII, no matter what you do to him.

Garrick - Silke bug
Have you tried updating or patching the game (look in downloads in the BG1 site) ? probably a stupid question, but sometimes I forget that option. anyway I haven't heard about this bug before. but if the update is not working, I don't know, maybe reloading the game. when I first challenged Silke I had myself a ranger, Imoen, Khalid and Jaheira. Entangled Silke with Jaheiras entangle spell and used Imoens magic missile wand to disrupt her spells and left khalid attacking her with his sword, Jaheira with her conjured flame sword and myself ,the ranger, with the best arrows i had, and constantly moved around as I shot at her. and I didn't find her that difficult, it took me about 3 or 4 tries.

Accept his offer?
Why not just reload and accept his offer? He takes you to Silke, she asks you to kill these guys, refuse and kill her (I always do this just by wailing on her, she is simple and sometimes dies in 10 seconds). After you do this you can kill the bards who are "assassins" and get three potions of defense with no rep loss.
Otherwise just kill Garrick since he is a joinable NPC noone will go hostile and there will be no reputation loss.
About the patch: If you have The Original Saga (which is BG + Expansion pack) than do not install the patch.
