One BIG problem & I need my guru's please.

I had problems with no maps and no collection of junk. Went on-line and read thru forums, finding out that I needed 1.3 update. Went to Dreamcatcher, and seeing as I'm on the turtle connection, it took 2 hours to download. Installed it and the game has No change. Un-installed, then re-installed the game and even tryed starting over completely. Nothing. Is there something I missed or is this game destined for the trash. I just found a note telling of a link to a 1.4 update, but the link won't load. Besides that tho,, I was told that the 1.3 would fix the junk and map non-existence.

When you load up the game to the title screen, does it say "1.3" in the bottom left corner of the screen? If not, then the patch didn't install correctly (make sure it's pointing to your DL folder).
If it does, then I'm not sure why you aren't seeing the results... as far as the in-game map goes, try hitting the "M" key while you're playing and see if that makes it pop up for you. I've played through most of the way in 1.3 and the whole way using the fan-made 1.4 patch and both worked properly for me.
(BTW, I highly recommend finding the 1.4 patch, as it adds loads of new fixes and such).

Depending on what version you started with, the 1.3 patch might not install automatically. You have to extract the file and copy it into the dungeon lords folder, overwriting the older versions. There are more detailed instructions on this forum if you search for help on installing the patch.

The 1.3 patch didn't install automatically for me either. I had to manually copy all the new files to the proper directory.
However, it was worth it and the 1.4 patch makes the game whole, the way it should have been released.
Make sure you install the English to German fix done by the people in this forum after installing the German patch.

(It's amazing to me that Dreamcatcher, with all its resources. couldn't convert the German patch while a few smart guys on this forum managed to do it in their spare time!)
