I really want to get my hands on some of the stuff in these expansions, but I've never played them before. Around what level is recommended to be able to handle these expansions?
I hate importing/exporting games, and want to have a fluid transition between all of the games as well. When (in game) is a good time to start each one. I don't want to be spoiled too much, but I also don't want to go past the point of no return and get angry.

I'm not entirely sure on the recommended level, I know that there is a way to go from the IWD areas to HoW without completing the former (then you can return once you've finished the expansion). I know that it's possible to do that, but I haven't personally tried it, I always complete the IWD areas then go onto HoW.
That transition should be flawless, all characters are raised from the dead (if killed in the final battle) and have all their equipment. To get into the TotL areas you only need to talk to a halfling in Lonelywood (I think the ecommended level is 15 for those areas) and again all equipment is automatically transferred along with your characters both going into and exiting the TotL areas.
No importing/exporting is needed, the process is automatic.

I prefer to complete most of the IWD areas before heading to HoW - the first real fighting area of HoW (Burial Isle) can be really nasty. Although I believe the minimum level is 8 or 9, you probably want to go in as 11 or 12, if you can. I think the minimum for TotL is at least 12 (might be as high as 15). Generally, the higher the better. Burial Isle and TotL contain some of the toughest fights.
The point of no return in IWD is the spot where you place the 6 quest items and go up the staircase - once up the staircase, you cannot go back. I turn around at that point and go back to Kuldahar to start HoW by talking to Hjollder. The point of no return in HoW is crossing the Sea of Moving Ice. Once you return from the barbarian camp the second time, Hjollder offers to take you across the Sea; turn him down and talk to Hobart Stubbletoes the halfling in Lonelywood's inn to start TotL. Upon finishing TotL, you will be returned to the Lonelywood inn and you can talk to Hjollder again to finish HoW. Once HoW is finished you will be returned to Kuldahar to finish IWD.
To recap, the optimum order for me, with no exporting necessary, is IWD up to obtaining the 6 quest items, then to HoW through to just before the Sea of Moving Ice, then to TotL. Once TotL is finished, you are returned to HoW at which point you should cross the Sea and finish HoW; when HoW is finished, you are returned to Kuldahar to finish IWD.
