missing items from inventory

Post by N2CS »

I understand sometimes some itemsin the inventory can go missing if one enters combat with some monsters but what i encountered is weird!
I loose all those unique items like parts to make powerful magical items as well as keys when i head from the governmebt district to trademeet to attend to the Pala quest thing! Any idea?

Mmm .. weird, the only creatures that can make items disappear is either the Nishruu, or the Hakeashar (its bigger brother). These creatures are summoned, and are supposed to only eat charges of off staffs and such and spells from the mage's memory. Due to a bug it eats any magical item the mage might have.

But I don't believe it eats 'regular' items, like keys. Are you sure you didn't misplace them?

This "eating magical item business" has been fixed in the patch hasn't it????

I haven't patched my game (um, actually, I don't have BG 2 installed anymore ... needed the diskspace), but the patch only fixed the 'flip-over' of the charges to some 65,000 charges. It did not prevent any of the magical no-charge items from being destroyed.

When I was in the beholder dungeon in underdark, i got stoned/petrified, when I used the stone to flesh spell, I noticed that some of my items were missing, probably turned to stone?!
I'll kick ass in BG2.

Just a guess, but if BGII follows the old pen-and-paper rules, petrification will force a saving throw for many items.

Really, though, the Nishruu is deadly. I also lost Nalia's ring this way.

Hmm, I wonder if you could use a Nishruu to get rid of that annoying rodent sitting in Minsc's quick slot. I mean, he's cute and all, but it'd be nice to equip the butt-kicker with something more useful, like potions of insight. Can't that hamster just stay in Minsc's OTHER quickslot? Image Image Image

Unfortunately, nope. Nishruu at the guarded compound ate about half of Jan's inventory in my (patched) game. Annoyingly enough I was so caught up with playing around with the Celestial Fury that I didn't notice until about 5 saves and several hours later.

I patched the game and a Nishruu ate the blade of the silver sword... guess I'll have to resort to CLUA.
