My bet is...

...the developers will wait until E3 2006 (in May) to release any new screenshots or provide any significant new updates to the game. Any takers?

I doubt it now, I expect a release in 2008. :(

I disagree. Even if they don't release until 2008, I would expect at least a couple screenshots and some basic info on what to expect when Bethesda goes to E3 in May 2006. They've been working on the game too long not to have anything to show for it. I wouldn't expect a playable demo or anything, but I would be surprised if they didn't at least have something to show the world.

Well, looks like I was wrong. Pete Hines was recently quoted as saying that Fallout 3 would not be at E3. I guess somebody shoulda taken that bet, huh?

LOL Thanks for the update, Pete. I'll be grabbing that towel now to go wipe the egg off my face.

This is a double-post, but I thought I would create a new post to add the link to the news item on Gamespot where Pete Hines was quoted as saying that Fallout 3 will not be at E3 :( . You can read about it here:

Ok, I guess this was a triple post.

I wouldn't be surprised if some concept art or a new poster was out. But nothing like a screen shot!

Well, it's not like E3 is the only game event out there, and given Bethesda's previous history with releasing info, they'll definitely be doing it on their own terms. I think they just like throwing knuckleballs.

I hope they won't release any information about the game until it's out. Then people will have to try it out before making any foolish assumptions about the game, and how they think it should be made because they are "old scool roleplayers", (however they define that term anyway) who played Fallout 1 and 2. One single screenshot will make hundreds of people guess at what kind of game it's going to be and probably miss out on one of the better RPG releases in many years.

Anyone suggesting or even thinking that Fallout 3 will resemble Morrowind or Oblivion needs to wake up and smell the coffee. It's the same as saying every Nintendo game has Mario in it.

Bethesda didn't purchase such an expensive license (seven digits) without having an idea what the fanbase wants, and without being Fallout fans themselves. Also, they have hired people from the original Fallout teams. I'm not saying this is garuanteed to be a good game, but they are on the right track.

I don't see the problem why not give out some information. It's quite same if you give out some information before or after release, since to get more people to buy the game, developers must release at least some info & demo. Nowadays players are quite sceptic wether the game is good if they haven't had any info about it nor have ever played the demo...

That's very well said. I would wait some official info (screenshots, demo, etc) before I even consider to try to determine wether the game will be good or bad.
