photo caption: Why is there a BIT in that horse's MOUTH and no REIGNS?! BAH!
I was expecting mounted combat, but no! Can't have that! So much for the real midevil feelling.
Better luck NEXT time.

from the above article;

"horseback isn't the most enjoyable experience in Oblivion. I wasn't too pleased to discover that a horse doesn't seem to be able to gallop at faster speeds as one would in a Legend of Zelda game,"

Of course I'll buy the game anyhew...

If that turns out the only problem with O I'd be rather pleased.

Funny ending to that part of the article, I may actually have to try that on my own. :mischief:

I read through all IV parts, thank you for the link by the way, and .... and I am not too happy with the overall picture we got from it, but we'll see when we get it I guess.
And He whispered to me in the darkness as we lay together, Tell Me where to touch you so that I can drive you insane; tell Me where to touch you to give you ultimate pleasure, tell Me where to touch you so that we will truly own each other. And I kissed Him softly and whispered back, Touch my mind.

I'd like to use horsed to break formations :D like throwing the enemies to the ground, with massive damage before fighting them. Oh well, not everything you wish happens.

:D You're welcome Ashen. I found lots of stuff in gamebanshee news. Here are links to the two most recent articles.

Luis, your horse should be able to be used as a weapon. Jousting types of encounters would also be great. Also, mounts should go through development, learning and progression of skills.
(If Oblivion isn't like this already,) You should also be able to take care of your horse(s) weather it be feeding or fixing chipped hooves. But the programmers obviously didn't focus on this subject. *sigh* PC gamers have a good chance of seeing mods to this. As for 360, I'm sure they can figure out a way to transfer mods from the pc to the 360 via xbox live. The question is when...

To be honest it doesn't bother me much. And with mods and expansion packs its bound to be addressed if enough people object.

From the equestrian view. :D That's how I think it should be.
Hopefully they managed to put reigns on that bit before they released it. Otherwise, it would eliminate the purpose of the bit which is for the rider to guide with the reigns.
Of course you can ride using voice commands and leg, but still, no use for a bit without reigns... :D capiche?

I personally own a 360 and there are multiple USB ports in order to plug in iPod's, computers, etc. You can download and save stuff onto your 360 hard drive this way, so I'm sure you can download a mod onto it and send it to some friends. Cant wait till the game, it comes out a day before my birthday. :D Once again, cant wait.

The only problem with riding your horse into a crowd of daedra would be that your horse would not survive the encounter, it is mentioned in several articles that horses can be injured and even killed. Sorry Athena, you might want to leave your little Lady outside the dungeons.

I would assume so, concidering it weighs 1,000 or 2,000 lbs and you weigh 100 or 200. :)

I was galloping along the road when I decided it would be wise to dismount and kill the wolves chasing me. Heh, or so I thought. I dismounted and my horse was rearing at the dogs, I was trying to fireball them without frying the paint; a city guard from who knows where was trying to kill them too. Needless to say, caca hit the fan, my horse bolted, I chased it into some trees, over a few hills, up a big hill...and some bandits joined in too. That's where the paint made his final stand. at least he didn't roll on me.
This sux, time to reload from last save point. :)

The horses of Oblivion should swim. I have not yet tested this theory.

They do. :) Jump to, even though the jump animation for horses is VERY bad IMHO.

If you go read on elderscrolls.com they have atleast one article on there where they talk about horse combat... basically allowing you to ride around and take swipes at stuff completely unbalanced the gameplay. I suspect that you would probably _never_ want to get off your horse.

So for the sake of "funness" they cut horseback ass kicking.

It really doesn't bother me too much (I would rather get off my horse at a good distance and stick an arrow in their head and then _charge_! anyway ;-)
