i recently installed the 4.0.0 patch from Co8. it seems to work fine except that when i quit out of the game it gives me an error saying that ToEE.exe has encountered an error and if i want to send it to microsoft or dont send. sometimes it gives the same error measage buy will give me no cursor and i cant do anything not even turn off the computer, everything just locks up. the only way i can reboot the computer is to shut down the power by unplugging it. i thought that maybe the problem was with the microsoft.net 1.1 so i tried to rerun it and it gives me an internal error 2711. S867460. (whatever that means) i also tried to remove the 1.1 and it gives the same error. it wont let me delete it either ive tried different ways. i saw a version 2.0 of the microsoft.net on thier site do you think that could work?
also i wanted to change a characters name can you do that? how is it done? i tried to goto the welcome wench inn and use the book on the counter like you would if you wanted to add or delete a character and it also kick me out of the game with that same error and the computer freezing up on me. if you have any solutions please let me know, thank you!
more fun,more problems

No idea about the MSnet issue. Sorry.
As for renaming, I can help. There's probably a save editor somewhere that'll help, but here's how I would do it.
1. Start a new game to get to the character creation screen.
2. Edit that current character's level 1 version of himself to change his name.
3. Exit the creation and load your saved game.
4. Write down his experience and take away all his equipment.
5. Use the book to remove him.
6. Use the book again to put his (renamed) level 1 version back.
7. Use the console to reset his experience to what it was.
8. Level him back up as you did before (using the console to reset his HP, perhaps)
9. Give him back his equipment.
For info on using the console see the stick thread on console commands. All you need to know is in there.

Well, not that this is a huge revelation, but it sounds like your setup is unstable. Did you install any patches before co8? Also, co8 has more up-to-date releases out than 4.0.0. I think they all require patch 2 to be installed first. Also, more recent co8 patches have a front-end program that requires you to decide what patch/mod combination you want. Without running that front-end program first, it's like playing unpatched, which is not a good idea. Best thing for you to do is to uninstall and reinstall with patch 2 first and then the latest co8 patch. Then run the front-end program to decide which mods you want.
But the fact that you can't use the book itself should tell you the way you've got things up is a mess, and you should try to correct the problem before doing anything else. Bite the bullet and reinstall.
You may experience problems running a new setup with an old save file, so you should probably restart from scratch (though you could use the console to level back up to where you were and blow through the beginning really fast).
If after reinstalling and starting a new game from the beginning you still have problems, consult the guys at co8.
