I was collecting alot of stuff in Chapter one and selling all the stuff that I didn't / couldn't use and then leaving all the good stuff all the good finds on the floor so I can trade up durning game play and try something new like a long bow or cross bow then I beat the guy at the end of chapter one and moved to chapter two which as you all know is a totally different place, NUTS I lost all the stuff I had placed on the floor is there any way of going back without reloading a saved game and starting at that point??

Try checking the divining pool. Some items make it there, but they're mainly quest items. You can actually store your equipment there, for a price, but I find it inexpensive,

yeah, you're pretty much out of luck as far as getting that stuff back unless you want to use cheat codes. I personally buy/carry every bag of holding i can find, and i have almost every -80% bag i can find too. that way i save on trips to the store and i have enough good "keep around" loot that it fills two whole bags of holding. general rule of any game: if you want to keep an item, don't ever set it down anywhere. except for a few games like morrowind, etc, if you set an item down you can expect that at some point in the game it will be gone b/c tracking every object in the game gets more and more difficult as the game goes on and there are more objects to track (hence, why most older computers have difficulty running games like X2 where the universe just gets bigger and bigger and has more objects to track).
In the end, however, it's unlikely you got anything incredible in chapter 1. I don't think i carried anything from chapter 1 through the whole game, so you'll probably be OK without reloading. However, if you did get a really good find, just go back and reload.
