I don't know if anyone will be able to help with my specific problem but I am going to ask just in case.
A few months ago I got this HP Digital Entertainment Centre, and it's basically a 250 Gig computer that hooks up to my big screen TV and Surround sound.
So I installed BG2, knowing that it would be so cool playing it on the big screen and with the surround sound on. I changed certain settings; I put all of the graphics settings at max and I changed the resolution to 680 x 480 or something similiar to that.
I turned it on, and I found out that all I could hear was background noises (children yelling in athkatla etc.). I could'nt hear the NPC voices, spell casting etc. at low volume, it had to be at very high levels. When I could hear everything, it sounded sort of robotic and hollow. I know it seems wierd but this is what happened.
Could this be a sound setting I have to change or do I have to change the settings on my surround sound to get this to work? Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. Is there a way to change the typing settings in Gamebanshee from overtype? If I ever mess up spelling I go back to fix it and it types over my other stuff.

I get the feeling you just went through and ticked all the boxes in sound settings, half of them disable stuff rather than enable things.
Alternatively your actual speakers are set to the wrong settings and for some reason only playing one or two channels.
By the way, EAX surround sound setting is aweful.

I never changed any sound settings, that's because I never needed to before. My surround sound is digital, but i dont know if I have to tweak with the speaker settings to get it to work or if it's in the configuration. I don't know too much about it; my dad hooked everything up. If I get some information, I could ask him to change it but until then I'm stumped.
