not as such but there is a level were you can not level up any more until your skills go down from being in jail or something along those lines.

As soon as you max out all your skills, you cannot level anymore unless you lower your skills. You level up to around you're 40th level in oblivion when you've maxed out your skills.

However, you can keep lowering your skills over and over again, and you're level can go up to a grand maximum of 255. That is the highest.

You can go higher than 40. I have a level 40 char who has not maxed all Major skills yet, only about 3, though the rest are mostly in 80s/90s.

AND she has never lowered her skill levels, either!

And what's the point of getting such a level as 255? You don't get any stronger or faster or smarter than 100 per attribute/skill.

i have a lvl 150 but that was due in part to spending 150 days in jail. Most his skills where reduce by 10 or more.

Not to mention, *shudder* immortal enemies.

There is a mod (see here) that enables you to advance attributes and skills beyond 100.

The theoretical level limit, without mods or jail time or skill draining, is 53. You can start out with 25 in each major, meaning you can raise each 75 times, 75*7/10 equals 52.5, add one for your starting level. Obviously if one of your majors is 35 at strt, you have to deduct one level from the max etc..

every time you get a level up you can go to sleep and raise three indirect skills
strength
intelligence
willpower
agility
speed
endurance
personality
luck
can be raised....

i don't know if there is a limit to those but in the beginning of this video YouTube - My Level 325 Xbox360 Oblivion Charater
the speed is 160 if you look carefully.

but when you hit maxlev you can not raise more magicka, fatique, these things. I am a type of warrior, thief, and now im begining to learn magicks, this in the same character.. so then i need to raise more magicka to use strongest spells... being in jail will decrease my skills but not my atributes?yeah i guess! Then I can exceed max level, gaining more magicka, fatique etc.. if the real max level is 250+- i could be like a God, dominating everything.

Actually, enemies stop leveling rather early. I think level 25. Random loot still improves up until level 30 or so. So unless you like high numbers, there's really no point even taking things to 40 or more. All attributes and skills are capped at 100 points (save for acrobatics and something else I can't remember - I'm guessing alchemy) and you'll max your main ones long before that happens.

Actually whilst most creatures are either capped or have a set level, most 'NPC's" aren't capped. One creature exception is the Ogre, which has no level limit, and such 'NPCs' as Vampires and Necromancers don't have any limits either.
