Mages Guild : Ambush *slight spoilers, I guess*

Post by DarthMuffin »

I'm doing the "Ambush" Mages Guild quest. The one you need to find a black soul gem in the ruins of Silorn.

I'm stuck in the ruins because I can't find the switch needed to open the door on the small bridge in the central area. It's the second time this happens to me in this game, and, frankly, it's getting on my nerves. Why can't we have a "detect switch" spell? =/

Anyway, can anyone point me towards the light? I tried going down deeper in the ruins through another door, but it (seems to) lead nowhere for the time being.

Thanks for any help!

Well, I finally found it. For the record, I'll post it here so that if some people have a similar problem they won't get stuck.

You have to go down a level by taking the only other door available. Make your way to a square room. There will be a switch on a pillar there that will open a secret passage out of this room. From there, just follow the dungeon and you will eventually get to yet another door, which leads to a higher area near the bridge with the 3 locked doors. On this higher area is the switch that opens the doors.

Thanks for the tips... I did find the higher area with the switch, but pressing the switch doesn't seem to do anything. I pressed the switch and jumped down and tried to go through the door/grid, it still didn't open.

I spent a couple of hours going over room-by-room trying to find something that I might have missed. I still couldn't figure it out. So I went about it another way. For anyone else out there having the same problems as me: JUMP!

When you're in the big room with the bridge that you need to cross to get to Falcar, if you can't figure out how to open the doors to croos the bridge, jump on the walls, on the cement blocks (decorative), and go all around. I'm sure that if your athletic skills aren't high enough you might not be able to do this. It worked fine for me. Forget about those stupid doors/grid on the bridge. :p
