Just for grins, I was checking the profiles of some of the regulars, and almost everyone lists their occupation as "student." Am I the only person over 30 on this forum? If my wife finds out, I'll never get laid again!

Does it really matter if your wife finds out? You can still play BGII, won't you? Image

... at least I can say - I've lived

Don't be so discouraged, Hazim !
Most of game lovers also adults... how old am i do you think ? Heh FYI i'm chief engineer for some private company. Now it's that enough ?
Remember, game is not for child or non adult....it's for your entertainment ! So everyone who love to play games can play. Same thing goes for cartoon movies....it's just to light up your day.
Cheers !

Actually, I'm a college professor, which keeps me pretty busy. So I don't get to play as often as I'd like. Not really a game fan, except the infinity engine games. My brother in law bought me BGI way back when because he knew I used to play PnP D&D. It hooked me, and I've been a junky of the series (including PS:T and IWD) since then. Can anyone recommend any other games in this genre I should try? I gave a crack at Diablo but found it pretty dull. I prefer a richer role-playing environment. Suggestions?

Hmmm... I bet you would like the Fallout series as well. Kind of looks like the infinity engine but set in the far post-holocaust future. Stay away from Diablo2. It's just an expensive screensaver. :-(

Hazim:
Actually I'm a 30 year college faculty member too. Image

As for other games in the genre, I really haven't played any. All of them received such bad reviews, I never slapped down my $$ to play them myself. The only other game I play on a regular basis is Half-Life (Counter Strike). And that probably won't do it for ya.

Not 30, but it's coming up far faster than I would like (6 months and counting).

Also not a student anymore -- marketing for a telecom company.

I'm 24 for as well and I must confess that I am a nerd as well. Of the biology/genetics kind though. We don't use computers for anything but playing games on. Atleast I don't. Sigh... Why am I posting this?

Heey ... wow, you guys are really old Image

nope, just kidding. I just always thought that I was one of the oldest in here (I don't know why?). Turns out, some of you guys are more than 10 years ahead of me, not that it's a bad thing or anything. I want to able to keep my head high and play games even when I'm really old (~60?). I don't know if I qualify as a nerd though ... probably. Anyway, keep up the good work Image

My confession: I'm a 42-year-old University Professor. If my wife found out about this secret hobby, my meat would be dead meat. If my colleagues found out, my reputation would be toast.

Actually, getting laid is a bit of a problem even in the game when you are an uncharismatic dwarf, as I am (in the game, that is, not real life).

Damn! How many profs are playing BGII?!?! I teach film, broadcasting and digital media and my love of the infinity games has seriously got me thinking about writing a research paper on narrative structure in computer role-playing games.

Actually, I got the whim the other night that an interesting project I might put on the long-term back-burner might be a book with the following title: "Twenty-Sided-Die: A (sub)Cultural History of Dungeons and Dragons" Whaddaya think?

Damned, i accidently put up a new topic, trying to send an answer to this one (brandnew - shining! - user, you see) so... well, anyway. I just wanted to state me being 32, Jurnalist, and loving to play RPG's in the BG2 style and TB strategy games... and wondering, if there are female BG2 players... (told ya, not been around this forum too long...)

Just passed the 35 year mark and still going strong. Haven't been a student for some time. Working on software development in the defence industry.

Have also played BG1, IWD and Torment. Tried the D2 but didn't really like it as much as the Bioware games.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Amazing...I am a 22 year old student in astrophysics and until now I thought of my professors as being dull,narrow-minded clowns,; how come you guys are so different?!

No wonder this forum is so quietly proper and polite most of the time. So many gamers that left puberty in one place must be some kind of record. Though not necessarily a good one (according to my girlfriend). :-P

Omar, the secret life of professors is one that students rarely understand. But then, astrophysicists are typically a dull, narrow-minded lot. Just kidding; I think most of the self-proclaimed "nerds" on this board can appreciate that our culture undervalues intellectual excitement. I watched a documentary on Noam Chomsky the other night, and I found it much more exciting than any Hollywood feature I've seen recently. Just excitement of a different kind. Most simply don't understand. That's why they try to pigeonhole us as nerds, correct?
