Problems with The Ultimate Heist (SPOILERS)

Allright, here's the deal. I'm doing the ultimate heist thieves guild quest. After opening the passage under the statue with the arrow of extrication, I go into sneak mode and go in. Once inside the guards quarters, a guard instantly sees me and attacks (causing all the others to attack me as well). I dial the difficulty down to zero and kill them all quickly because I'm tired and don't feel like fighting. Later, when I get into the library where the monk is supposed to give me the scroll, I can't sit down in the chair. (But I can sit on the benches) The monk comes down the stairs, stops at the bottom, looks at the ground and yells "Look out!". That's it. He doesn't do anything else but stand there staring at the ground, yelling warnings from time to time. If I go up the stairs, the monks attack me. What on Tamriel is going on here? What am I supposed to do? I've tried chugging a chameleon potion before entering the secret passage into the guards quarters, and that results in a guard seeing me, losing me, and then going berserk and attacking the other guards (who fight back, and it turns into a free-for-all melee). And after all that, I go up to the library, can't sit in the chair, and the priest comes down the stairs and yells warnings at the floor as usual. I've also tried waiting a few minutes (or a few hours, by resting) before going into the secret passage, in the hopes that all the guards would be sleeping. Instant detection every time, no matter what I do. Help!

have u tried a sneak attck with a bow and arrow....I have yet to do this quest so my advice wont be so great but if u can just peek around the crner and get a critical damage with a bow he wont raise an alarm or yell out calling other guards...also wat about using an invisibilty spell and whereing shrouded armour from the dark brotherhood, as it fortifys ur sneak and magicka....hope this can help.....

I can't sneak attack because the instant the I appear in the fireplace I am detected (sneak icon lights up and guard pulls his sword). I am wearing my DB armor and have a very high sneak level (68 or something). I didn't bring any invisibility scrolls.

None of those threads address my main problems of being instantly seen, being unable to sit in the chair, and priests that yell at the floor.

Could have asked there too

which keeps multiple threads limited.

On your problem, try waiting a little guards move around. Second stop sneaking when entering the library (this spoiler or tip is definatly in one of the threads already on the forum).
