Attacked by Cingor? (spoilers)

Post by jdougan1 »

OK - I am in the middle of the "Staff of Everscamp" quest (cute quest BTW - pretty funny). Anyway, the second I accept the staff from its former owner a townsperson named Cingor rushes in from the street screaming "unbeliever" and attacks me. I kill him easily, and get his house key from the corpse - but there is absolutely nothing I can find in his house to indicate why he has attacked me (other than a copy of Mythic Dawn comentaries).

Nothing about Cingor shows up in my journal.

This seems really odd - and may in fact be a bug. Anyone else have this happen, and anyone have any reason why?

I have done the Everscamp quest, but...

Random Mythic Dawn people attack me at random times, very sporratically. Sometimes they conjur their armor and weapons, and sometimes they don't. He was just another member. I don't know if they're SUPPOSED to attack, though.

***SPOILER WARNING***
Ok, you just 'said' why he attacked you in your post. He has a copy of the Mythic Dawn comentaries, which means he is an agent of the mythic dawn; (the cult that killed the emporer). There are several 'Sleeper' Mythic dawn agents in every city in the game. The 'sleeper' agents look and act like normal npcs, can be talked to, etc. But after you steal the Mysterium Xarxes during the Dagon Shrine quest, the sleeper agents become 'live' and will attack you on sight from that point in the game on. Ussually the only warning you'll have is them screaming 'Die unbeliever' or 'For lord Dagon' before they conjure armor and weapons and charge you. Most sleepers, (Possibly all but have not confirmed this) have a copy of Mythic Dawn commentaries 1 or 2 on theyre corpse, in theyre house somewhere, or in theyre sleeping quarters if they live in a castle or something. Killing them BEFORE they come 'live' will be treated as murder. Killing in self defense after they come live, the guards will not only look the other way upon theyre death but will activly attack sleeper agents once they spawn they're armor. So dont be suprised if you walk into a bar and someone suddnly gets up and decide to kill you without provocation. Theyre are only a couple in each city, but they can be a little irritating if they catch you by suprise. See the wiki for a list of the sleeper agents Oblivion:Mythic Dawn - UESPWiki.

mythic dawn agents are in towns and through out the game are undercover till u hit a certain part of the main quest. i kno evry time i walked into a bar i hear "DDDDDDDDDDDIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEE" or "AAAAHHHHHHHH". only way to pass it or make it stop is to complete or continue in the main quest.
We're all going to die some day, I intend to deserve it.
