Exhausted all known options..

Post by chanderlyall »

This may or may not be something you've seen multiple times before.

At some point, (somewhere in the middle of killing the bandits who had captured the pilgrim lady near Aid Velothi, being attacked by the woman who dupes you into locating her ring in a pond as a ploy, and killing another set of bandits just outside Aid Velothi), it seems my magicka ability was disabled. My magicka meter is still blue, still fills up and none of my spells or attributes are in red. The magicka box indicator next to my weapons box is simply empty. When I press the Y button, nothing happens. There is a small white dot just next to my location indicator at the top left of my screen (xbox version), which I had thought might be some type of disease as I had killed a diseased kwana forager eariler. I have used cure common disease, cure blight and even cure poison to try and find out if those may be the cause of my problems, but apparently they aren't. I've also read through quite a few FAQs and searched for the problem in different variations to no avail. I'm getting a little frustrated and starting to fear it may just be a glitch I can't fix.

Needless to say, I'm stumped. And hoping someone can tell me what exactly the problem is, because I resent not having the use of my magicka. I appreciate it greatly.

Never played on xbox, but if it's similar to pc:

If the box is black it usually means you haven't selected a spell, scroll or enchanted item yet. You have to go to the "inventory" window with the list of spells and magic items, and chose the spell/item/scroll you want to use before you can cast it.

The same window also list all effects you're under, so you can find out what the "white dot" means.

Thanks.

I have to admit I feel like a moron at the moment. I fumed and searched over the "problem" for a good two hours before deciding to post to the forum and not long after that I realized what I'd done. You're right, somehow I'd scrolled off the selected magicka screen to the empty window.

Obviously I'm still figuring out how the game works, stupid mistakes and all.

I apologize for creating a thread about so dumb a topic. I tried to delete it but if members have that option I can't find it. Regardless, thank you for answering my plea!
