Thief guild second last quest bug?

I just came back to the gray fox with the boot that i stole from that vampire.

When i come to him i ask him why he was in the journal of that vampire then he tell me they pass the gray fox hodd time to time and bblablabla he finish telling me to let him think. i then go back to imprerial city and i wait and wait and wait for 2 week and ....nothing happen
i go back to the house where he was, and he is still there telling me that he is busy and need to think...

I didnt had the oportunity to give him the damn boot of that vampire and now it seem i can't give him so they dont unluck the last quest....

In my journal the last entry is somethign telling me that i discovered the grey fox is not immortal ... and finish saying : who is the grey fox?

I tried to kill him but it seem impossible he fall unconscious and i cant finish him...

Is this a bug or what?

If it is a bug do you know any way to finish the quest by cheating, because i did erase my quick save and my previous save is 3 hour before......

I am not there yet but I can take a looksee in the TES CS. Can you tell me the exact name of the quest? Of course someone may know a solution in the mean time.

Have you fenced enough?

1000 i think it takes, try that to update the quest.

When i did it i never bothered to ask about the diary and it worked for me.

I have fenced for over 8000 gold so i dont think it,s a problem.

And the name of the quest is : boots of springheel Jak
