you need to be out of sneak mode first so the monk knows you walked in there. Just don't talk to him and you should be able to sit down.

First of all, don't let a little glitch ruin the entire game for you, that's just throwing out the rest of what you haven't explored.
Secondly, you probably haven't tried everything. Maybe it bugged and skipped over a step in the quest. If you're using any mods, try disabling them and trying again. Have you been patient? Sometimes things like sitting and getting on horses takes a while for me. The way you described sounds like you were being impatient. If all else fails, reload from an earlier save and try again, if it bothers you that much.

Hope this helps (lots of spoilers too)

I finished that quest late last night and found it to be very picky. Everything has to be done a certain way and in a certain sequence. Did you flip the switch next to the blind monk to get the secret door to open? Or did you do like I did and picked the lock to the upper door? In my first attempt I picked the lock and snuck down the spiral staircase. When I sat the game literally froze. Apparently you must use the switch option only. Its located next to the monk with his back to you in the outer corridor. Once I did that I was able to get the scroll. Also for some reason I got caught taking the scroll on my first attempt. On my second try I didn't take the scroll until after I got back out of the chair. Only then was I able to sneak out to the secret exit in the Battlemages chamber (just keep going up the ramps and through the locked door - the exit is the ash grate in the fireplace of her chambers). Good luck and don't give up yet.

well what i think you should do...
i think you should get the pots you need to kill the two guardiens before even shooting the arrow... Get the pots shoot the arrow kill the guardiens and all other creeps in the room just to be sure, then you should be able to do the rest without any problems... if you follow the instructions... i did a small mistake myself and that led to my getting stuck... so do as you are told! i really hope it will work for you

ultimate heist

hello.
i did the ultimate heist quest but i failed during stealing the scroll from the monks.
then i was told to take another way out and all that.
so i didn't have the scroll and i went to the gray fox and he told me since i didn't have the scroll we had nothing to talk about.
here's the problem:
the game autosaved so i can't load and retry the quest.
there's nothing i can do, is there?

Oh, man! I loved this quest. I was able to get in and out of there and no one even knew I'd been there. Except, of course, they thought I was someone else.

But, my sneak ability, along with camoflauge, made it so that they didn't even know I'd left the building.

okey there is one thing you can do.. but consider it as cheating write this in the console
player.additem 00022DB0 1

if that is not the item then use

player.additem 000CD31E 1

that should add the schroll to your inventory, but i am not sure if the command is right so save before doing it, if it will work... i am not an expert on this matter... wish ashen or fable would take this one :S
