one clas party

Post by Da_venom »

has anyone every tried to go the game with a party only existing of one class?
and is this even possible? :P (the classes have to be single class) so no lamo's with dual or multi classed characters :D

my gues it that the mage could do it

I've never done it all one class but I've done it before with a mage, Imoen, Aerie, Nalia, Jaheira, Anomen (i.e. a party of all spellcasters) so I imagine you could do it either with all clerics or all mages. I think with all fighters you may run into problems as you wouldn't be able to use any scrolls etc.

Single Class

Why can't we dual or multi-class?

If we had to use one class the entire thing, it'd be practically impossible to beat without using a mage (unless you're a lamo and skip lots of stuff).

A couple of Paladin(one of each type), sort of a crusader type party, would be cool, atleast rpg wise :)

Good thread but I'm in the process of doing this myself.

Try to spread your choices to cover all bases.

Actually... having a 6-mage party would be a bit hard to play. Same thing with 6 thieves and 6 warriors.

6 Clerics could do great.
- 2 Tanks : Equip 2 with heavy armors and and blunt weapons + shields and Defensive Buffing Spells.
- 2 Damage Dishers : 2 with lighter armors, Dual-wielding Flails/Maces/Hammers and Offensive Buffing spells.
- 2 Spellcasters : Light armors (or none), lots of summon/healing/nuking spells.

Same thing goes for 6 bards... 2 "tanks" (Blades), 2 "damage dishers" (Blades) and 2 spellcasters (Skalds). This team can use heavy armors (tanks), elven chainmails (casters) and light armors (damages dealers).

Doable, but hard!

I think the hardest thing with 6 mages would be distributing scrolls.

I think the easiest 6 person party, all the same class would be either Paladin, Ranger, or Cleric.

Can you choose different kits and still be considered the same class?

I would think so. Maybe a party of the different paladin kits. Me, I would think a party of thieves would be great...or bards. They would level up fast and the bards would be mages and fighters.

If you have several kits installed that add to the original classes - 2 for each fighter/ranger whilst one for the paladin class -

Generic Archer and Anti-Paladin or
Justifier and Ferelan or
Holy Liberator

Given these additions, especially the top two fighter classes considering they are often used in tactics, it seems doable.

Well I think it is also depending on where you are in the game.

At the end of the game I belive 6 mages will rock every other party but they are kind of weak in the beginning need much sleep to memorize and such. and slow xp production although this isn't a big problem xp can be gained very quickly if you know how.

warriors or thiefs will rock early on
given the much HP and damage and equipment

When I first read your post I thought that there was no way that mages could make it but now, I think that provided they all have summon skeleton, they might be alright in the underdark.
When in doubt...kick it

4 specialist mages, wildmage and a sorcerer would definately be good to have.

Note: Is it the classification - ie. Fighter/Monk/Barbarian or is it just the fighter and all its subclasses ?
