I've started using the tutorials you two have suggested and it is working well. It's really helped. I am trying to read some/try some/read some/try some....etc. The problem is, I'll load a mod into TES Construction tool and will make changes to it, and I hit save. It won't let me save it under the old mod. I have to make a new save name and only the new changes are in the save, not the new ones plus the changes in the old mod. Is there a way to update a saved mod rather then have to have several mods. one for each time I try to improve the old one? Thanks again.

Try saving it under a different name, then combine the two mods...
I've only ever made a couple of mods - changing weight of indoril/dreugh armour so its always medium... But I have combined a couple of Race mods before, to ensure I can load more mods...
Chu or magelord may be able to shed more light on this...

It sounds like you didn't set the mod as active. When you load the CS, select the plugin file you want to edit and click the "set as active" button.
This only works with .esp files. If you wanted to edit an .esm file you have to save your changes as a new file.
edit: I suggest you ask modding questions on the official elderscrolls forum as there's more modders that can answer your questions there: http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/inde ... owforum=11

Nearly right greg.
When you load the mod click combine and type a new name it's that simple.
My tip is not to close the programme and just minimize it when you test it and only close once you finish. (as long as you've saved it doesn't matter if the construction set is open while testing.)
If you do have to close, when you combine again use the old esp so you only have to 2 esps.

If you've already loaded it, and don't feel like waiting again, you can combine the mods. I don't reccomend, though. If you plan on that route, make sure you play with BOTH mods active, or you'll only get changes the newer one made.
Say if I had five objects in my first .esp.
in_de_shack01
furn_de_p_02
flishy
fishing_rod
com_sack_01.
If, in my second .esp, I moved flishy, com_sack_01, and furn_de_p_02, when I went to play with ONLY .esp 2 loaded, I would be walking out in a black (or whatever color the fog is set to) void, with only the sack, table and flish floating there.
