Questions on Anvil - SPOILER

Post by janhans »

Just finished the main game, all faction quest, most Daedric quests and all
the side quests mentioned in most walkthroughs. Two questions though.

1. Behind the castle in Anvil, under the water, is a door marked Smugglers Cave. Inside is a door that cant be picked and needs a key.
Behind the door is a passage that winds up into the Countess' living quarters. The same passage can be entered through a secret door in of the adjoining rooms to the dinning quarters in Castle Anvil. Whats the deal behind this? Where is the key and is it quest-related?

2. In Anvil is an abandoned house with a person simply called "A stranger". He has no dialogue options. I meet the same guy outside Castle Skingrad some 60 game days later. Who is this dude?

Thanx in advance

The Stranger is used in one of the Thieves Guild quests highlight below to read further:

You need to go and visit him to get a document forged that recommends Heironymous Lex for transfer out of the Imperial City to Anvil.

This is more of a clue or hint as to the nature of the occupants of the castle. Note that the prince/duke/whatever of Anvil has been missing for 10 years without explanation. There is a smugglers type den under the castle. Hmmm. Do all the thieves guild quests and your questions will be answered.

Figured it out

Sorry bout that. So many factions, so many quests..... :-)

It is very likely that The Grey Fox is the Count of Anvil who mysteriously
disappeared some 10 years ago. Maybe he uses the Smugglers Cave enterance to visit his old home. Inside the cave there is a bed and besides it lies a copy of Followers of the Grey Fox.....

The rumors that he has been around for 300 years are a little exagerated to say the least.

That information is rather spoilerish, please use '[Spoilers][/Spoilers]' tags or type in black for future spoilers, it can be kinda game ruining for people who read it.
Also, highlight to read: Its not likely that the Fox is the count of anvil, he is the count, no doubts about it.
If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.
