Enchant spell preference...

Post by Damn Snakes! »

Which of these do you all enchant with? Constant Fortify Strength or Constant Feather? I think the constant fortify strength is better, but I am not sure why I think so... I don't have any 'constant feather' items... I was just wondering... any other ideas?

Constant strength as its better overall, especially if you are a melee character etc. Feather always seems a bit pointless to me as it seems to use more enchant points to get the same amount of extra carrying ability than it does to just simply fortify strength. The same applies to potions and spells - I use fortify strength potions/spells over feather potions/spells every time.

I usually enchant with Night Vision, Feather, Levitate (if you think it's slow, try using it with the Boots of Blinding Speed) and Restore Health. That's for constant effect items. For caster items I usually take the fire/frost/shock damage property or properties, beef them up to as much as the item will hold and, well... that's good enough for me as you can seriously spam the spells on enchanted items.

1 pt strength adds 5 to encumbrance. 1 pt feather adds 1 to encumbrance.

Constant fortify strength, constant water walking, constant night eye, constant restore fatigue, constant restore health.
Constant bound spells are surprisingly cost-effective. They may be extremely cheap, but remember that bound items have constant effect enchantments which can be, on their own, even more expensive that the CE bound spell. The fact that they weigh nothing also makes them, in effect, equal to a constant effect feather spells. That means the effect of the spell is actually several times what it should be.

I don't understand what you meant with the bound items Rookierookie

Anyway I enchanted my glass helm with 3 points feather (as opposed to 3 points slow fall) and this just bites. Feather is ridiculously overpriced, where 3 points feather is pretty much equal to 3 points of constant fortify strength (3 carry weight as opposed to 15 carry weight).

My current suit has 26 points of additional strength past 100 and this guy can jump hella high!

My bow has constant Walk on water which is useful, since if I want to dive I just change to another weapon.

The pair of daedric boots bounded gives CE 10 pts speed. A bound cuirass gives +5 points to all armour skills. An exquisite shirt can hold both. Therefore, an exquisite shirt enchanted with bound cuirass and boots in effect has the following set of constant effect enchantments:

Summon daedric boot
Summon daedric cuirass
Fortify speed 10 pts
Fortify heavy armour 5 pts
Fortify medium armour 5 pts
Fortify light armour 5 pts
Fortify unarmoured 5 pts
Feather 140 pts

...which is not what you can normally put on an exquisite shirt.
