Vale of Ruin

I have proceeded to the Vale Of Ruin,placed the vial,the messanger comes but will NOT pick it up/ I have tried about 25 times,HELP! I am playing Collectors Edition.

Did you talk to the messenger when it lands on the altar?

The messanger did not land. I was unable to talk to it.

Wait a minute... the messanger was supposed to take the vial of blood. She told me where to go to find (cant remeber his name) but i still have the blood in inventory. Does this matter?
