In the past the race day has also included a fair that took place at the top of the hill, with 'grinning through horse-collars' (also known as 'gurning), shin-kicking and wrestling.
 Nasty entertainment...

The English get Cheese Rolling and Morris Dancing. We get whisky and shortbread.

I think it's clear we got the best end of the deal.

Course not - he is Manx. They have bagpipes and that makes them celts

Part of the Norwegian Kingdom of the Hebrides until the 13th century when it was ceded to Scotland, the isle came under the British crown in 1765. Current concerns include reviving the almost extinct Manx Gaelic language. Isle of Man is a British crown dependency, but is not part of the UK.

Heh, the Isle of Man was bought by England to stop smuggling.

Though the Queen is the Lord of Man, relations between the island and the UK are somewhat shaky, and we pride ourselves in having home rule. :)

As for the Manx Gaelic; though children are offered the oppurtunity to learn it in Year 4 and onwards in schools, it is illegal for it to be taught as a first language, which causes problems. :(

Hehe, not really suprising. I mean, they can't win any real sports, so they have to make their own in order to win.
Spoiler
And don't even think about mentioning the Ashes, we'll have it back in a few months.
In memorian: Fiona; Ravager; Lestat; Phreddie; and all of those from the 1500 incident. Lest we forget.

That means in a few years all the other countries will be better at it than us then lol. Whenever we invent a sport the whole world beats us at it :)

Err... the bladder on a stick applies to morris dancing, which is a purely ENGLISH tradition - so why it was directed at me, I can't figure out.
