has anyone played ranged all the way through?

I'd like to hear if anyone ahs played ranged and wat upgrades you used for your blaster if you did go ranged.... i am going ranged for now and find it quite fun. please help me to get the best upgrades.. plz include wat kind of dmg/bonuses the upgrade gives. thanks

Off the top of my head, I usually give Mandalor 2 heavy blasters with the accuracy scope, Mandalor III chamber & the Rython charger. Most of all I look for what does the most damage 1st, then attack bonus 2nd. I would rather shoot twice & hit once for 30 points then shoot once for 10 points.

Also, don't forget to skill your ranged guys with the blaster close combat. This gives them attacking power with a blaster at melee range, so no penality to use a blaster in a sword fight. That & rapid shot. I stay away from the power blast & sniper shot until I have the level 3 rapid shot.

And, I buff up on dexterity items for my riflemen. Dexterity lets them shoot straight & hit targets.

It helps to stock up on adheisive gernades. Lob one, then fire 2 rapid shots, then repeat until you have a dead enemy.

i think alicina was mostly ranged on her no force powers character

the silly part to using blasters, is with some builds a simple force storm is just way easier.

that being said,

in my last run though - used blasters that did "unstopable" damage, since your damage choices are fairly limited wanted something that would always get through.

scopes : this is really a toss up, i preferred the pinpoint scopes (keen + some slow), but that's just a matter of taste. early on the accuracy scopes may be best, as obviously you need to hit first then you can worry about other stuff. even late in the game some of the npc's would still have level one keen scopes. as i may have needed the parts to build something else, the slow side effect is cool, but i hardly noticed if it had any real effect.

pure rylith cell, +2-20 energy damage.

mandalorian chamber3 at+1 +2-16 energy damage, -2 dc

the ranged feats are more usefull imho, esp that one that i can't remember the name of, bottom of the list, 5 ranks or so, adds damage to every shot. awsome. i would even skip the weapon focus / special feats until you have nothing left to take.

rapid shot 3 is overrated, i'd stick with rapid shot 1 for the most part...

power blast 3 otoh is the stuff. on paper rp3 looks like it should be the best, but i seemed to get the best results from a maxed power blast. not only with my pc but with other npcs, sniper shot can be interesting as well - i had some fun w/ this and bowcasters, but it's not my fave "default" combat action.
