Game Error entering Slums of Fargrove

Hello, I am new here, and I have gotten some great help from just reading the forums. Thanks! I recently encountered an error I cannot find help for anywhere. I am trying to enter the slums to finish up the mansion quest. When i enter the door to go to the slums, it begins to load but then stops and the screen is shaky with the words "Deep6 SEGREAD:NPC" After you hit enter here, it will load the slums area and then the words "COMMAND ERROR (0)" appear. Then the program exits. Any ideas on why this might be doing this?

Some useful information would be that this is the CE version of the game and I recently had to hex edit the game to get an item that didn't drop. To do this I had to replace one of the other items, a mace. Could this have done it? Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
