Video and Game don't match???

Post by REal953 »

Before the game was put on the shelf, I was already hooked. I watch the video clips on the ElderScrolls.com like every day. I beat the game for the third time yesterday, and today I watched the videos again for fun. In the last video the player is in a city and there is an attack taking place. I do not recognize the city or the attack. It says its Kvatch but I don't remember this part in the game. I remember Kvatch but no following imperial soldiers through the city and into a gate.

Several things come to mind that Bethesda said would happen but it didn't happen.

-Dunno whether it was rumored or official, but I do remember someone saying that when joining a guild, they will find you, not the other way around. That's a lie, you have to find ALL the guilds to join ANY of them.
-There's no "sucking" at archery. Look at the demo video dealing with the city and the dog, the AI is not comprehensive enough to give that out and when she practices archery, it's impossible for her to suck at it. She would do less damage, but the same effect would still happen as if she had 100, perfect shot.
-That lady above mentioned, she doesn't even exist.
-That conversation in the demo video in the city, the one where you listen in, never happens.

Some things I was hoping for-

Randomly generated quests for guilds that might tie with other guilds. I was not only hoping, but expecting them to have many more quests and have them randomly generate it for the player. When I say random, I don't mean like roll a dice and that's what you get, but more of you have a chance to do this quest and you might never get the chance. The quest could also deal with the fighters guild directly, or any other guild. But nope, the entire mages guild itself was done incredibly poorly, the quests were very linear, straightforward if you will. Go here to this cave and kill them, go here to that cave and kill them, go do this, go do that. The quests are like that, which I don't like. I know it's not that hard for a random quest log, having a chance of doing a quest in the game, or then maybe that quest will never show.

I also didn't like the thousands of oblivion gates. That made the game scream dungeon crawl to me. First off, they're gates to the plane of oblivion and you do the exact same thing in every single one of them to close the gate, which the hardest puzzles of the gates a 5th grader could solve. Secondly, they could have added some quests to that too, like say a woman and her child were strolling out on the trail along the way to skingrad, the child runs off to chase a butterfly or something, and then is captured by a few scamps that recently appeared due to a gate, you talk to this woman and now not only is your goal to close the gate, but to rescue the child first, and if you close the gate without getting the child back, obviously the quest will be failed.

There are a LOT of things that Bethesda promised, and didn't deliver. All oblivion seems to me is one big dungeon crawl with good graphics at the moment.

Sorry for the rambling, I'm done.
Listen up maggots, Mr. Popo's 'bout to teach you the pecking order.
It goes you, the dirt, the worms inside of the dirt, Popo's stool, Kami, then Popo.

I know there were guardsmen you had to follow, but the gate was the very first thing you did, and the guard was already there. After that it was to the city. I doubt you would've like the quest being that linear anyway.

Both the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves' Guild will find you if you meet the criteria.

[quote="Siberys]-That conversation in the demo video in the city"]

It was just an early example. Things like this happen many, many times throughout the game.
