Spellmaker in Tel Branora

Post by Darzog »

Hey, I was just wandering around Tel Branora (I think that's how you spell it), and found the guy at the top of the tower that sells the Summon Golden Saint spell. I wanted to test a new spell that I made, so I saved then attacked him.

When he died I checked his corpse just to see what he had, and he had a couple of unused Grand Soul Gems, which would go nicely with the Summon Golden Saint spell I had just bought. My question is whether killing him would have any impact on playing through the game? I don't mean with the guards, rather is he needed for any quests that I would regret later? Otherwise, since I haven't found a place to buy grand soul gems (I've heard there's a place to do it but haven't seen it yet) I might just off him. :D

And you don't have to give me specifics about quests I haven't done. Just a yes/no about whether I should let him live should do fine. Thanks.

As far as I can recall, the only Telvanni in Tel Branora that you need for Telvanni quests and the main quest is the crazy woman that is in charge of the place. He may be needed for another faction's quests that I have not done but I don't recall needing him and I've done all the Legion, Mage, Cult, Telvanni quests and the main quest, together with most of the fighter quests and most of the thief quests.

spoiler! (highlight below)

I am pretty sure you need to steal his staff for a Thieve's Guild quest. I do not know, however, if he needs to be alive in order for that particular quest to be issued.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll just leave him alone for now and look for gems elsewhere.

The best place to find soul gems is in smuggler's caves, though they are random, and you only (at least in my experience) find the grand soul gems when you get to be around level 20. Other people may have found differently though.

Regarding the heads up, as I said, I don't know if it is critical he's alive for that particular quest, but I wanted to mention it, just on the off chance.

There's a mod that allows you to resurrect any character you've killed on the spot, though I think it requires Morrowind Script Extender. Alternatively, you can use the console. Open it up first, then click the body. Once it reads the NPC object, type:

resurrect
setdisposition [number]
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Unfortunately I'm playing on the XBox so no console or mods.

But I did order the PC GotY edition from Amazon a couple days ago, so I should be able to play whatever game it is that you all play (since it doesn't even resemble Morrowind anymore) once I get it. :D
