black soul gems (SPOILERS)

I am ready to do a deadric quest (Vaermina) where the god needs a black soul gem as the offering (need to be level 5 or higher). Since I have completed the Mages Guild quests, I have the black soul gem with Traven's soul. It seems useless for anything else and I cannot drop it since it is a quest item. Can I use it as the offering? Easier than making a new one.

If no one knows, I will try it and report back.

Update:
Sorry if double posting is frowned upon here.

Tried to use the filled colossal black soul gem and it was refused, back to the altar. to make my own.

BTW: the two b.s.g. that you find in the Cheydenhal mages recommendation quest, you hand over to the head mistress of that chapter, is there a way to get them back? steal them maybe?

probably, but they will be marked as quest items - so you wont be able to use them for anything.

There is a another matter in the vaermina quest.

I had two black soul gems with grand souls filled. As I do the offer the shrine didnt take the soul gems, it only removed one soul from the gem. First I tought the shrine will take one of my black soul gems but it didn't do so. I had no one empty so I'm not sure if it takes only a gem if its empty. If you find one try this.
