missing mandrake root HELP

I know this has been done adnaseum, but I can' find the thing. I got it the first time I did chapter five. I got to the fourth level and screwed up and had to do the mandrake thing again and I can't find it. I did everything you are supposed to do and I even tried cheat codes, which I have never done before. I get "nice try cheater". So obviously I didn' do that right. Help. I have gone back to several saved games. Nothing works. I relay do not want to do this chapter again. It will be the 4th time.
