1) It's worth buying a house, because this is a RGP, and you need a house where you can be alone.

2) Costs are changing. Because they are different from ecah other and in different places where the land square meter price is different from the others.

3) If you put it in a container in your own home it will stay there...

4) I've house bought soon as I fled from the jail, with my first gold amount, and no piece has been stolen yet (I'm also a thieves guild member may be thats the fact, I donno)

5) Thats what I've also thinked of?!!! Also asked it here and mentioned about dating but the questions was too spicy (I assume) and was removed.

Buy at least the one in imperial city.

It is worth buying a place to store your stuff that you cannot carry around all the time. I have maybe 15 sigil stones, >100 welkynd stones and 10 or so varla stones. Also, you need a place to put all your alchemy ingredients. Some, like venison, and minotaur horns are 2-5 wt units each. I cannot carry all that around all the time with armor and weapons. They are too valuable to sell and too heavy to carry.

Houses go for 2000 for a shack on the Imperial City waterfront to either 25,000 or 50,000 I dont remember.
Only the house in Skingrad (Rosethorn Manor) has a servant that you can hire.

Buying a house is considered a quest and you must buy additional furniture for the house to further the quest (except for the house in Anvil which is furnished). So if you want to complete all the quests, you need to buy 5 or 6 houses.

Any chest, crate, cupboard, sack or desk in the house is safe and there are no robbers.

You can talk to the count or countess (or someone in the castle) in each city to find out how much the house is going to cost and where it is located.

The house in Skiingrad will give you the opportunity of having a servant. When you go to the dedicated merchant to buy your furniture there is an NPC (starts with an E) within the store that once activated there is a conversation trail that leads to you hiring her for $500. You will have had to buy the furniture for the servant's quarters before the conversation link will appear.

Once she is your servant she can prepare food or drink. The food turns out to be a pie with some curative attributes. The pies can also be used as an ingrediant (at expert level) to make potions (to sale).

If you like to be called "My Lord" or "My Lady" everytime you enter the your house, then she is for you.

The house in Skiingrad is the most expensive but also the most oppulent.

I've got a slave in my shack in the Imperial City.

After the Arena quest, some kid named "Arena Fan" starts following you. I led him to my shack, and told him "Wait here, slave." He and his awful hairdo greet me every time I enter my shack.

His hair must scare off burglars, since even though it's an unlocked shack in a den of thieves, nothing has been stolen from my hoard of priceless loot.

Very helpful, SuperVillain :)

BUT: Prices of upgrades depends entirely on the Mercantile skill of the buyer. And possibly of his/her Speechcraft skill as well, though not certain of that.

With a higher Mercantile you can haggle for lower prices.

Very good point Fljotsdale :P

Therefore only use the Upgrade Price as a rough estimate :D
I recommend the Anvil house first has its well worth it for 5000 gold, and you dont need to buy any upgrades. Just complete the quest :D

Have fun with the houses :P
