From morrowind to oblivion, character creation....

It's been like months since I last played morrowind, I remember enjoying the game but in the end it became a very lonely journey. With Oblivion I am a bit puzzled as to how and what I should do so I have a rather large and explicit question to ask.
The first question would be does anyone know where to find an interactive map for the game, I had one for morrowind and it rocked since I could make notes, find things quickly and it would save me ages.
The second question would be, is it worth going as a caster? I remember from morrowind I went melee with the nice ebony or daedric armor, enchanting my sword with a nice damage spell and using magic mostly for healing and buffing. In the end I could only find the spells worth while if cheesing it with INT potions from alchemy and creating extremely powerful spells, otherwise a sword with a good enchant would kick enemies to a pulp. How good is a caster in Oblivion? can a caster match up with a melee character when it comes to damage?
Now like I said it's been months and I remember with morrowind that lvling up you had primary skills which would get you lvl up, secondary skills and misc skills, increasing each one with 10 would give you a +5 bonus to the attributes connected with the skills. With Oblivion how do I manage the same method of powerleveling and what would be the fastest and easiest way to do so?
Now I've read somewhere it's also possible to max attributes and skills without lvling up to fast, making sure you have the gameplay and not the scary mobs attacking you, how do you do this?
If I want a character which uses a sword, heavy armor, restoration spells, spells for buffing, fast, jumping like a kangaroo, alchemist what kind of skills should I pick? Should I pick those as a primary or misc skill?
Now since I've just started with Oblivion I am totally lost, what is a good place to find:
Alchemy supplies (both in de wild/ vendors /cities)
Armor
Swords
Starter quests
Easy money
Create spells for buffing and healing
Now this is getting very long I know but I have so many questions and so much I'd like to know, thanks up front for the help.
