Problems logging in

Don't know if this is the correct place to post, so please move if necessary.

The problem opccurs when I try to log-in using my computer at home (I'm at work now). After entering my password the loading progress bar moves incredibly slowly, my password disappears, but even after five or so minutes it does not log in.

I'm using internet explorer (I realise there have been some problems with firefox) and have a broadband connection.
