Protection from death(Sisterhood ascension)

(Angel heraldry) What is its use?
and second question is about some guild quests. In some guild quests, after completing the quest, guildmaster asks you whether you choose (+2strike) or (+2strike plus +2parry). Do i look like a dumb? yes i am a dumb gimme just +2 strike.

I also have been wondering this. Maybe if you take a mortal wound from where your health is above half and your health goes to 0...maybe it lets you stay alive with a couple of points of health. Or maybe its a chance thing? I don't really know. Would have been nice if they, the programmers, would have clarified it with what it actually means.
