Hi all, wanted to start a BGI tutu game and was interested in trying out a shapeshifter druid. The class has always intrigued me but have never tested one out (not even Cernd on one of my BGII playthroughs) as I have heard bad things about it, such as it will be indestructible in BGI but weak in BGII. I would play the char hopefully through all of the saga so just wanted to get some input into if people think the class will be balanced in BGI and yet remain useful through-out BGII? I don't wanna be super powerful, just competitive and fun.
I looked at downloading the improved Werewolf files for the BG tweaks mod but as these greatly improved the abilities of the werewolf I was sceptical about if this would improve my enjoyment of the game or just take away some of the challenge.
Any advice from anyone with any experience of this would be greatly received as I’ve started a run through a few times now but can’t really find a class that suits me since I played through a while ago with a Paladin (Inquisitor in BGII). Ta!

Tutu Shapeshifter Druid
My torment is that there is no sequel to Torment!
I have an Avenger in tutu that became extremley powerful. Once you get Iron skins its pretty easy. He just hangs out with Imoen who I didn't dual to a mage and its a game I don't play too much because they both leveled up so fast and it got rather easy.
I don't think that you can shapeshift until at least level 5or6 so the early going you wouldn't be overpowered but once you can turn into a werewolf you would be kicking serious arss. I have heard that in BGII when you can shift into a greater werewolf you are plenty powerful for that game but until then its not to great thats about level 14,15.

Doesn't seem to be a lot of opinion on this. But I have been searching the forums and gave it a little go and he does seem overpowered in BGI. Not to be detered though I've decided to go with it, but with a little twist. Created my PC:
Vanquiel - Human Shapeshifter (From the way I'm looking at it he's quite sickly and weak due to focusing his energies on controlling his affliction, which he didn't chose, it was forced upon when he was attacked before Gorion found him, but is very astute and quick to learn)
S 8
D 17 (was thinking of making it lower but need it for the AC)
C 10
I 15
W 18
Ch 16
I will refrain from using my shapeshifting capabilities through-out most, if not all (haven't decided when to start using them yet), of BGI due to his fear of what might happen if he is unable to control the transformation. This could mean I'm a little weak to begin with but I just think it sounds fun from a RPing perspective. Could regret it later on but what-the-hey. Here goes. Laters.
