Help Please -- Irenicus' Dungeon Key

Post by Fsujonn »

Saemon states that there are two ways to leave the dungeon after we have successfully chased off Irenicus -- ship or the portal. He said the key to the portal was in Irenicus' room -- but where is it? I lost my thief in the battle. Do I need her search talents to find the key or did i just miss it? A little help would be appreciated as I am stuck and can only walk in circles at this point.

A thief would definitely help with finding and obtaining the key but I don't think it is a requirement.
Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a person does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses their intelligence.

Irenicus's room is just to the right of the front door you used to enter the Asylum in the first place. The key, and the second part of his journal, is laying somewhere inside that room, it's just going through the containers and you'll find it.

If you use the portal you'll skip a big part of the game.
It's always better to be stupid and trust Saemon.

I have checked the room thoroughly. I found both part 1 and part 2 of the journals on the table. Fortunately I saved the game when I dropped Jan for Imoen. I am beginning to think the game may have screwed me -- only because I was given Yoshimo's heart on Spellhold Island. I was told I was not suppose to receive it there and later it mysteriously disappeared. I will try to find the key but if I cannot -- I will start where I save the game previous and take the boat. Another poster stated I will miss a large part of the game if I take the portal -- don't want to do that.

Yeah, the boat is definitely the best way.
