Selling items

Post by Maximus38 »

Is it possible to sell items for more than 800 gold? That seems to be the ceiling, even though I found items over 2000 gold, and was selling at 65 to 70%, the maximum amount I could get was no more than 800. Does it depend on Mercantile level, or is 800 the default throughout the game?

Depends on the Merchant. Each has a figure per item that is their limit. Anything from 600 upwards - though I have never noticed a merchant with a limit above 1200. There probably are some though. Shop around in the Market district of Imperial City, checking out the limits for Weapon and Armour shops, Alchemists, General stores, Magic shops, etc. Do the same with the shops wherever you go.

However, as well as that, your Mercantile skill affects what you are paid for items. Use the mini-game (click on the face at the bottom of the Topics list that comes up when you activate the Merchant) to improve the Merchant's liking for you. The more s/he likes you, the better the price you can Haggle for.

Off the top of my head I know there's one merchant in Anvil with a 1200g limit. If you enter by the east gate it's the first store on the right side.

Also, I believe (don't know for sure though) that as a master merchant the merchant gold limit no longer exists.

Expert Merchant allows you to "invest" in a store for 500 gold which raises that merchants gold by 500.

Master merchant adds 500 gold (not unlimited) to all shops
