I've noticed that the message space limit seems to be 50 now instead of 70, and that you can only send to 4 people at a time instead of five.
What's up with that? Is there a plan in place to get GB members to donate to get space back?

Yes, this change is part of an optional donation system I have been planning on implementing since the monthly server fees saw such a large hike in June. The XML file wasn't supposed to be imported just yet, though, so I apologize for not getting an announcement up sooner. PM storage and the number of recipients members can send to are both related to the site's overall performance, and any performance-related options (and other perks like custom titles) are what I was planning on targeting for the donation system.
50 messages and 4 recipients are actually the default settings for vBulletin, which is why those numbers were picked for the new system. If these settings aren't going to work for a lot of people, I can always adjust the number accordingly. My plan is to double these numbers for those members who participate in the donation system.

I have 57 private messages. Does that mean there's a bug in the system or will it just not delete my messages automaticly?

I'm guessing that the forum will allow you to keep any messages that are over the new limit, but your account most likely cannot accept any new incoming messages until you free up some space.
In the near future, we will begin accepting donations to help with the site's growing server fees. This system will be completely optional and will grant those members who help support the site a few additional perks around the forum. I'll be posting more specifics within the next week or two when the donation system becomes available.
