Firkraag: Dead?

Post by Berethor »

I had a wierd thing happen to me today that annoyed the hell out of me. I was beating the crap out of Firky, and It seemed like I killled him. He fell down, but he still had the circle around him and it said:

Firkraag
Dead

I assume this is a glitch, but my party kept attacking and my attacks wouldn't hit. I can't get the Carsy or scales because he just lays there, "Dead", apparently.

Help? Has anyone experienced this before?

That's...weird.

Are you running any mods? If so, which ones and in what order did you install them? Also..do you have the most recent patch as well as the Baldurdash Fix Pack?

Once you have tried troubleshooting and if nothing works, you might want to download ShadowKeeper and edit in the goodies... It wouldn't be cheating, IMO, since you have in fact killed Firky.

Bash?

Aren't there any spells that can bash him so that he flies away.... for example, when Firky uses his wings, your characters fly away....

just a thought...

No offense, but have you ever played the game? Because if you had, I think you would realize there were no spells like this. And as helping somebody in a thread really depends upon accurate knowledge, with the best will in the world, this comment doesn't really help. ;)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

If you have cheats enabled in your baldur.ini file, try using Ctrl-Y on him.

Did you get experience for "killing" him? It sounds like a major glitch, but it sounds like he's somewhere in an unconcious state or something.

Either instant kill him or stat drain him to death if you really want the items. Or reload and try again.

Mods?

Do you have the tactics mod installed?

I have experienced the same glitch with spirit trolls after having installed the tactics mod.
They of course just raise automatically after a few rounds, but it's still irritating.

I've never seen this happen with any other creature though, but I suggest re-loading and trying again.

I have the Cheats in baldur.ini, but when I use it, all it does it this:

Firkraag-Damage Taken 1149
Firkraag-Damage Taken 1149
Firkraag-Damage Taken 1149
Firkraag-Damage Taken 1149
Firkraag-Damage Taken 1149

or something like that over and over again. He just sits there, Dead.

I have no mods installed. I'm playing on this Entertainment Center that is hooked up to my T.V. It's cool, but we haven't hooked up internet to it yet, so I don't have any mods, Shadow Keeper, or the patch. I get quite annoyed when this happens or I get the "[Insert name] appears busy" message.

I tried reloading but it just happens over and over again. It never happened before though..

It sounds like you need to install the latest patch.

If you don't have access to the internet to download the file, check your TOB CD as there is usually a folder entitled patch or look for the patch file in the main folder and run it.

right on Fable.......

have played this game twice and believe it highly unlikely that Fikraag would just get up and fly away

Definitely not going to happen.

I don't think he means fly away, he's in a cave anyways, remember. I think he meant like a Wing Buffet attack, presumably Comet or Dragons Breath. If he really meant flying away, he probably doesn't know what Baldur's gate 2 is.

A similar thing happened to me in Irenicus's Dungeon. I killed the Lesser Clay Golems before they were "activated" by the alarms (i.e. I cheated by using knowledge of the game which would not have been available to my character).

Then the Golems came and kicked my arse and I could not lay a finger on them. They had the same tooltip: Lesser Clay Golem: Dead

http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/baldu ... 73182.html

Hypothesis: you can't kill certain things until their scripts have been activated in some way. Did you kill Firkraag before he had a chance to turn hostile for example?

That sounds like a bug.

While it's true that there are some things you can't kill until their script is activated (Kangaxx's 2nd form, for example), I know I have killed those same golems many times without any consequences.
