when ever i try to pray at the alter, it says repent your crimes wicked one!.....is there something i have to do so that i can pray again???

Many other threads on this topic, but short version: Get your fame higher than your infamy by doing good deeds. Try the fighter's guild. In the RC church, you can be a serial pederast, take the last rites, and you're good to go. In ES4, you have to actually prove it.
