Hi!
I have managed to wander into the Mind Flayer dungeon (from the Underdark). I have
been pretty much through the whole thing, with just the final "brain room" to complete.
As far as I can tell, the only way I can actually get the door open is to "do the change" and become the slayer...
For role-playing reasons, I had been planning to deny my inner self and never do the
transformation. Now I am wondering if my plan is possible. Can I get out of here without
transforming? Or complete the rest of the game without transforming?
If there is a way to go without transforming (or a way to complete the game, for that
matter) please don't tell me hom to do it - just let me know if it is possible or now so I know if I should keep trying.....
Thanks!!!!

Drakron is right, you need one of the collar-thingies.
Are you really a prof or are you yanking our collective chains?

In my game, no Mind Flayer ever respawned. I searched the dungeons about half an hour, before checking the journal which said, that only a being with a powerful mind or godlike strength could open the door.
Now I knew WHAT to do, but since there were no Illithids left, I had to reload, cause I also didn't want to turn into the slayer.
An invisible char can easily sneak past the guarding Illithids and get the collars.

Indeed, I really am a prof....Psychology at Illinois Wesleyan. Actually, there was some traffic here a few weeks ago which suggested that quite a few players are professors.Originally posted by Gruntboy:

Now, I just need to learn to spell "slay" and I might actually be taken seriously...
